Vercelli is a small community with a large synagogue built in the 15th century. The synagogue is located near San Lorenzo church.
In 1492, refugees came here from Spain (the last name of Segre comes from the Spanish river of the same name) and practiced money lending and trading.
The ghetto was established here in 1740 and has retained its original appearance. The current synagogue can be found in the historic center and had been an oratory in the past. It was done in the neo-Moorish style.
