The summer of 2015 will mark the first of five years in a row that Israel’s capital of Jerusalem will be hosting one of the country’s biggest opera festival. This massive event will take place at the Sultan’s Pool venue, an outdoor auditorium situated at the doorstep of the Old City that holds 6,000 people.

The 2015 Jerusalem Opera Festival will take place from June 24 to June 27, one of the city’s most beautiful times of the year. Expect warm summer temperatures (~28 C/81 F) and plenty of sun during the daytime. Evenings and nights are typically cooler and comfortable (~16 C/61 F), with clear skies that will allow for a tremendous view of the night sky and Old City walls above the venue.

As long as you are visiting Jerusalem for the opera festival, you should undoubtedly explore some of the many sites, attractions and unique dining establishments the city has to offer, such as the iconic Old City and its many religious and historical sites, the world-renowned Israel Museum or Machneyuda, one of the best restaurants in the country.

L’elisir d’amore (The Elixir of Love) is a 2-part comedic Opera by Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti. It was the most often performed opera between 1838 and 1848 and continues to be a popular choice in the international opera repertory to this day.

The Jerusalem Opera Festival will feature a reinterpretation of the Italian classic set in 1940’s Israel with elaborate stage designs from some of Israel’s top talent.
