Wall, producer of Jewish Discoveries, and our Italian experts, experience the culture of Italy as seen through its Jewish heritage and community members.

Day 1 Arrive Rome.
Transfer to hotel. Lunch in the Ghetto, ancient Jewish quarter, with
leaders of the Rome Jewish community. Walking tour of the Ghetto, including the Great Synagogue, the Jewish Museum and galleries. Meet leadership of the Rome Jewish Community. Overnight Rome

Day 2 Rome
Guided tour, “The Grandeur of Rome, a Jewish Perspective,” including tour of the Vatican. Lunch, US or Israel diplomat. After lunch, a walk through the Jewish Catacombs.Afternoon tea, home of Italian Jewish family Dinner on own. Overnight Rome

Day 3 Ostia & Rome
Travel to Ostia Antica, the ancient port city. Visit the oldest excavated synagogue in Europe. Afternoon free. Cooking class and dinner, ‘Cucina Ebraica Roma’ Overnight Rome

Day 4 Tuscany
Depart Rome for Tuscany. Stop and lunch in Pittigliano, ‘Little Jerusalem “, a charming cliffside town with unique Jewish heritage, restored synagogue and museum. Arrive Florence. walking tour. Visit the Medici Archives. Presentation, "The Medicis, Renaissance and the Jews" Dinner on own. Overnight Florence

Day 5 Florence
Guided tour, Uffizi Gallery, “The Great Works of Art, a Jewish Perspective”. Lunch on own. Afternoon visit to the Great Synagogue and Jewish museum. Meet with community members. Dinner at a renowned Florentine restaurant. Overnight Florence

Day 6 Tuscan Contryside
Depart for Tuscan countryside, driving tour to private estate and villa. Lecture and cooking class, “The Tuscan Jewish Kitchen”. Lunch at the villa Afternoon – visit top winery and wine tasting.
Return to Florence. Dinner on own. Overnight Florence

Day 7 Emilia Romagna & Venice
Depart Florence, travel through Emilia-Romagna, and the renowned gourmet region of Italy with special Jewish heritage. Visit the town of Nonantola, where 100 Jewish children were saved during the Holocaust. Continue to Modena, visit the main synagogue, an architectural gem. Lunch at one of the region’s finest restaurants. Meet community leaders.
Late afternoon arrive Venice. Private boat on Grand Canal to hotel
Overnight Venice

Day 8 Venice
Walking tour, led by scholar, of the famous Ghetto of Venice, marking 500 years of continued Jewish life in 2016. Tour led by community scholar. Visit the five exquisite synagogues, the Jewish museum of Venice, and artisans of the Ghetto. Lunch in the Ghetto. Afternoon tea with notable Jewish family at their villa overlooking Grand Canal. Presentation, “Jews of Venice – Art, Commerce, and Contemporary Life.” Dinner on own. Overnight Venice

Day 9 Venice
Walking tour, “San Marco Square, A Jewish Perspective” Next, visit to Lido Island and its Jewish cemetery, a time-travel through Tive centuries of Venetian history. Light lunch and presentation, “Venetian Jewish Table” Afternoon at leisure, or guided tour. Closing dinner, one of Venice’s great restaurants. Overnight Venice

Day 10. Departure.
After Breakfast, transfer by boat to airport.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Participation
Limited to 22 participants. Designed for people of all ages. Culinary classes for those interested.

Free time or program alternatives for non-participants in cooking programs.

Some kosher meals, Fish and vegetarian options available at all sittings.

Land Program Costs
$6850 per person, based on double occupancy. Single supplement, $1800.
Gratuities, $150 extra.

A $1200 deposit will be requested upon reservation. Full payment due 60 days before departure.

Program Cost Includes
Nine nights at deluxe hotels.

Breakfast daily, four lunches, Five dinners Guide, tour experts and scholars.

Culinary classes in Rome, Tuscany and Venice with lunch All group transportation by air- conditioned coach Museums and site entrance fees, private guided tours.

Private boat in Venice to hotel, excursions, and to airport on departure (group transfers included. (Private transfers to and from airports will be at participant expense).

Accompanying guide/expert, ground coordinator with group at all times.

Flights
Tour does not include international or domestic Tlights. Our agents will make Tlight

arrangements at request of participants.

Changes
All rights reserved by the program directors to make changes in itinerary as needed. If hotels need to be changed, they will at same rating level.

Insurance
For losses incurred having to cancel Tlights or discontinue trip, we recommend that participants take out travel insurance.
